The copywriter reports to the V.P. of Marketing. In creative partnership with the Marketing team, the Copywriter will generate text for online ads, promotions, e-mail campaigns, newsletters and website content to support customer acquisition. Specific responsibilities include:
- Prepare creative briefs for Online Graphic Designers who assemble and prepare final layouts and graphics for offers, display ads, e-mail campaigns, and websites.
- Discuss theme, style, and length of copy with internal clients to determine the most suitable approach.
- Study products or services to decide the main selling features.
- Plan and write headlines and text in such a way as to appeal to the people most likely to buy the product, and submit copy for approval.
- Proofread copy to check spelling and grammar.
- Create brand names and taglines.
- Amend, revise, or re-develop copy in response to direct feedback from internal clients.
- Create copy templates for ongoing use in website creation.
- Contribute copy to corporate sales and promotion materials.
- Establish strong relationships across departments and build an understanding of internal clients’ needs, the consumer experience, marketing strategy, and operational capabilities.
